School Visits to the Fire Museum

The museum has a classroom set aside specifically for schools and other interested groups that may wish to use the museums study facilities. The museum staff will be on hand to provide guidance on all aspects of fire safety, history and their application to the National Curriculum.

The classroom itself can accommodate up to 30 children plus about 8 adults. There are slide and video facilities together with a range of books, artefacts and study material. One wall of the school room is decorated with a mural over 20ft long and 12ft high depicting fire-fighters through the ages. The Museum is able to provide Fire safety/History lectures suitable for all ages and learning levels. There have been over 13,000 children and young people using the facilities provided by the Museum Staff over the last 6 years.

The illustration shows part of the mural in the school room painted by a local firefighter.
